The following summarizes the monitoring results of radioactivity in fallout, foodstuffs, and cumulative samples during the first half in 2011. Analyses number of samples is 682.
In response to the nuclear accident occurred in Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan on March 12, 2011, RMC, FDA, NTA and FA fully sampled the imported foods, agricultural and fishing products, wines and fishes from Japan and sent to RMC for radiation detection. Analyses number of samples is 1233. The followings are the detection results of the environmental samples in Taiwan, imported foods, wines and fishes from Japan.
Direct radiation: The gamma dose rates were between 0.036 and 0.077 μSv/h. All the data are within the variation of environmental background radiation.
| Airborne particulates: Gross beta activities were between 0.14 and 1.38 mBq/m3, which were far below the warning level of 9×103 mBq/m3. The activity of I-131 was between MDA and 0.002 mBq/m3. | Tile: With gamma spectrometry, no man-made radionuclides were found in selected samples. All the data are lower than reference level for building material. |
The online foodstuffs: With gamma spectrometry, no man-made radionuclides were found in selected samples. All the data are met the safety requirement for foodstuffs.
Imported foods from Japan: During the nuclear accident of Fukushima nuclear power plant, all the data of the imported foods, agricultural and fishing products, and wines from Japan are met the safety requirement for foodstuffs.
Fish: During the nuclear accident of Fukushima nuclear power plant, all the data of the fishes sampled and sent by FA are met the safety requirement for foodstuffs.
Based on this biannual survey, we conclude that the artificial radioactivities in Taiwan are within the variation of environmental background radiation. It is accessed that between January and June 2011, the committed effective dose due to inhalation, drinking water and food consumption is lower than the dose limit.
During the nuclear accident of Fukushima nuclear power plant, all the data of the imported foods, agricultural and fishing products, wines, and fishes from Japan are met the safety requirement for foodstuffs.
