Report Radiation monitoring around power plants
2008/7/1~2008/9/30

The following summarizes the monitoring results on the surroundings of three nuclear power plants during the third quarter in 2008. Analysis numbers of sample are 1782.
Direct radiation:
With thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD), the gamma dose rates around NPP-I were found between 0.039 and 0.071 μSv/hr; those around NPP-II were found between 0.039 and 0.071 μSv/hr and those around NPP-III were found between 0.038 and 0.054 μSv/hr respectively.
With gamma radiation monitoring network, the gamma dose rates around NPP-I were found between 0.045 and 0.101 μSv/hr; those around NPP-II were found between 0.049 and 0.110 μSv/hr and those around NPP-III were found between 0.046 and 0.085 μSv/hr respectively. All the data are within the variation of environmental background radiation.
Airborne particulates:
With gamma spectrometry, no man-made radionuclides were found.
Water Tray
With gamma spectrometry, no man-made radionuclides were found.
Grass and leaves as index plant (Hsianshih tree):
With gamma spectrometry, no man-made radionuclides were found.
Water (including drinking water, underground water, seawater, lake and river water):
With gamma spectrometry, no man-made radionuclides were found in seawater.
In tritium analysis were found between MDA and 309 Bq/L.
Agriculture products:
With gamma spectrometry, Cs-137 was found between MDA and 0.4 Bq/Kg • fresh in bamboo shoots, vegetable, tealeaf, cow and goat milk, etc.
Marine products:
With gamma spectrometry, no man-made radionuclides were found.
Cumulative effect samples (including soil, sands on beaches and sea sediment):
With gamma spectrometry, Cs-137 was found between MDA and 3.0 Bq/Kg • dry in soil , sands on beaches and sea sediment.
Based on the monitoring results on the surroundings of the three nuclear power plants, the maximal personal dose of each location is assessed and found to be lower than the dose limit.
