Report Radiation monitoring around nuclear research facilities
2008/7/1~2008/9/30

ImageThe following summarizes the monitoring results on the surroundings of research reactor located at Institute of Nuclear Energy Research (INER) and, National Tsing-Hua University (NTHU), during the third quarter in 2008. Analysis numbers of sample are 189.
ImageDirect radiation:
ImageWith thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD), the gamma-ray exposure rates around INER were found between 0.054 and 0.079 £gSv/hr; those around NTHU were found between 0.052 and 0.068 £gSv/hr; respectively. All the data are within the variation of background environmental radiation.
ImageWith gamma radiation monitoring network, the gamma dose rates around INER were found between 0.052 and 0.069 £gSv/hr. All the data are within the variation of environmental background radiation.
ImageAirborne particulates:
ImageWith gamma spectrometry, no man-made radionuclides were found.
ImageGrass and Plants:
ImageWith gamma spectrometry, no man-made radionuclides were found.
ImageWater (including drinking water, underground water, lake and river water):
ImageWith gamma spectrometry, no man-made radionuclides were found in underground water, lake water and river water. In tritium analysis were found between MDA and 13 Bq/L.
ImageAgriculture products:
ImageWith gamma spectrometry, no man-made radionuclides were found.
ImageCumulative effect samples (including soil and sediment in the lakes on NTHU):
ImageWith gamma spectrometry, Cs-137 were found in the soil samples around INER and NTHU, between MDA and 2.0 Bq/kg.dry; Cs-137 were found between MDA and 1.0 Bq/kg.dry in the sediment sample from the Lotus and kun-Ming Pond on NTHU.
ImageBased on the monitoring results on the surroundings of the National Tsing-Hua University, Institute of Nuclear Energy Research, the maximal personal dose of each location is assessed and found to be lower than the dose limit.
